Assumptions:

-Unconscious activity is the key determinate of how we behave 

-Childhood experiences have significant importance in determining our personality

ID= pleasure principle, concerned with immediate satisfaction

Ego= reality principle, if successfully balances ID and superego person doesn't develop a MD

Superego= conscience, sense of right/wrong, overdeveloped can lead to OCD and anxiety
