Transverse Waves: oscillations are perpendicular to the direction of energy transfer

Longitudal Waves: oscillations are parallel to the direction of energy transfer 

Oscillation cycle: one repeated back and forth movement 

Amplitude: Maximum displacement of a wave

Wavelength: The length of the wave

Wave speed: The speed of the wave moving from one place to another

Frequency: How many oscillations per second

Time period: Time for one complete oscillation 

Wave front: Multiple peaks lining up together

- frequency = 1/time ; time =1/frequency

The wave equation

Wave speed = frequency x wavelength

    m/s           =        Hz      x       m
