Physical development in adulthood

Early adulthood 

Physical performance peaks between the ages of 19 and 28. Individuals have reached their full height and strength.

After this adults may gradually lose some strength and speed, often unnoticed.

Decline in physical capabilities may be seen if individuals have an unhealthy diet, do not take regular exercise and maintain an unhealthy lifestyle.

Physical - strenght, maintaining weight, muscle mass, bone density, lose fat.

Psychological - reduced anxiety/stress/depression, emotions, body confidence, releases endorphins.

Pregnancy 

Early pregnancy, physical and eotional changes.

Hormonal changes, increase in progesterone which maintains the pregnancy. Increase in oestrogen responsible for sickness.

Hormones also affect the shape and appearance of their breasts, darkend veins, increased blood supply. ******* and areolas darken, breasts become more sensitive and tender, preparing the breasts to produce milk.

Perimenopause

Forties, ovaries gradually begin to make less oestrogen.

The ovaries stop producing an egg each month.

Perimenopause lasdts until menopause.

Perimenopause - physical symptoms

Mood swings

hot flushes

fatigue

lower sex drive

trouble sleeping

sore breasts

vaginal dryness

urine leakage (when coughing and sneezing)

urinating more frequently

irregular or heavy periods

Menopause

hot flushes and night sweats
