Simple Molecules
- Substances that consist of simple molecules are gases, liquids or solids that have relatively low melting points and boiling points.
Intermolecular Forces
Covalent bonds are very strong, so the atoms within each molecule are held very tightly together. There are weak intermolecular forces between molecules so it has a low boiling point:
- the weaker the force, the lower the boiling point.
- the bigger the molecule, the higher the boiling point
