LENGTH OF THE HYPOTENUSE

a(squared) = b(squared) + c(squared) <-------- Hypotenuse

If the shortest side is 5cm and the base is 12cm, we do this;

5(squared) + 12(squared)

then

a(squared) = 169

so the square root of a(squared) is a

and the square root of 169 is 13

a=13
