how would you solve an simultaneous equeation without graphing the soloution  :)



Sometimes a graphical explanation is rquired, here is an excellent picture illustrating how you may solve the equations simultaneously using a graphical method. It may help to know that the two equations here are y = 2x-1  and y = 5 - x (also written x + y = 5).  The solution which can clearly be seen from the diagram is x = 2 and y = 3.  These are the coordinates of the point of intersection.
