Homeostasis

HOMEOSTASIS - the maintenance of a constant internal environment.

This is monitored by the Hypothalamus found at the base of the brain. This monitors the blood and is able to send messages to parts of the body either in the form of electrical impulses along nerves or as chemical messages in the form of hormones in the blood. If the environment outside the organism changes, the internal environment must NOT change.
