Gravitational Potential Energy

GRAVITATIONAL POTENTIAL ENERGY is the energy stored in an object because of its position in the earth's gravitational field.

- the force needed to lift an object steadily is EQUAL and OPPOSITE to the force of gravity (i.e. its weight) on the object

eg a force of 80N is needed to lift a box with a force of gravity 80N- (basically, weight of 80N)
