G R A M M A R 

• grammar incorporates a child's growing understanding of how words can be altered to convey different meanings. 
• it will not be immediatley obvious to a child that a noun might add the inflection '-s' in order to become a plural
• the child will begin to undertsand and apply this language rule through repeated exposure
