When evaluating a study use SCOUT

S- supporting evidence - are there any studies or other evidence that suggests this theory is correct?

C- conflicting evidence - is there any evidence or any theories that suggests this theory is incorrect?

O - other explanations - how else could we ecplain this behaviour? are there any improtant things that this theory cannot explain?

U - usefulness - does this theory have any practival applications? does is have applications in understanding real life situations?
