- ENZYMES DO NOT DIE - They are not living.
- ANABOLIC reactions require energy to build bigger molecules - BUILDERS.
- CATABOLIC reactions require energy to come out - BREAKERS.
- Molecules that BIND to the enzyme are called SUBSTRATES.
- The resulting molecules from the reaction are called products.
- ENZYME-SUBSTRATE complex when they come together.
- The ENZYMES ARE NOT USED UP during the reaction.
- The key part of the enzyme is called the ACTIVE SITE.
- Reactions only take place when substrates fit into the active site of an enzyme.
- This can be refered to as the lock and key as only a certain key will fit a certain lock, just like a substrate and enzyme.
