- Two main types of electricity supplies- alternating current (ac) and direct current (dc)
- ac supplies have their current constantly changing direction.
- These ac currents are produced by altering the potential difference in which the positive and negatve ends keep alternating.
- Dc is created by a direct potential difference which is used in batteries and cells.
Wires mostly all have three smaller ones- copper core with a plastic coating.
From the colour of the wire you know what its for and its pd:
- Blue- neutral = carries away the current, completes the circuit, 0V
