Delegated Legislation

Delegated Legislation is used to create new laws or regulations that the House of Lords do not have enough time to tend to.There are three different types of Delegated Legislation which are:

  • Orders in Council
  • Statutory instruments
  • Bylaws

Orders in council

An order in council is a law or regulation made by the queen and the Privy council under the EMERGENCY POWERS ACT 1920

Statutory instruments

An statutory instrument is a law or regulation created by ministers or government departments.
