They both seem to be separated from humanity because no-one understands them- Insecurity. “Alone between nurses and swans” (THINP) Both are fearful, but for different reasons. Medusa is fearful of her husband’s betrayal, but The Hunchback fears the people that surround him- the children who isolate him. “That she might stand in the night” and “your girls, your girls”.
