Catalysts are used in industry because they make reactions happen faster, and allow reactions to occur at a lower temperature, which saves energy. Therefore, by using catalysts, companies can save both time and money. Often, a catalyst can only work for one particular reaction, so there is a constant search for new and improved catalysts.
