Extractive (primary industry/sector)-This involves acquiring raw materials- known as extractive production

e.g. metal + coal have to be mined, oil has to be drilled from the ground, rubber tapped form trees

Secondary Production (manufacturing + construction)-this is the manufacturing and assembly process. It onvolves converting raw materials into components.

e.g. making plastics from oil It also involves the assembling of the product e.g. building houses, bridges and roads

Services (Tertiary industry/sector)-this refers to the commercial services that support the production and distribution process

e.g. insurance, transport, advertising, warehousing…
