Bowles and Gintis and their Correspondence Theory

Bowles and Gintis's Marxist studing is still considered important today. They did this in 1976 and therefore could be considered outdated?

Bowles and Gintis felt that school should be a means of social mobility but they were disappointed that efforts to help working class children through compensatory education projects in the 1960s seemed to have little effect and they were abandoned.
