• Deliver food and oxygen to cells
• Get rid of waste products like carbon dioxide
• Use diffusion to do this
• Walls only one cell thick - easy for substances to pass in and out
• Too small to see without a microscope

Blood is made up of 4 main parts:

• white blood cells
• red blood cells
• plasma
• platelets (small fragments of cells that help blood to clot at a wound)
