Arteries

Arteries are a type of blood vessel.

• Can vasoconstrict ( make the lumen smaller) and vasodilate ( make the lumen larger) to distribute blood effectively.
• Elasticated walls- let's them cope with the high pressures the blood is pumped, that's why you can feel a pulse .
• Thick walls- because they have thick walls, they have a small lumen.
