• It's an area characterized by certain climate and vegetation patterns e.g. tundra

Major biomes (unique of the world)

1. Tropical rainforest: Antarctica doesn't have it; only particular places

2. Deserts: place w/ very low rainfall (not necessarily a hot place)

3. Tundra (frozen ground): e.g. Siberia (Northern Russia). Not necessarily a cold place.

4. Grasslands e.g. Pampas
