A person may be defined as a worker under the Treaty of Rome 1957 Art.48 if he engages in an economic activity for which he receives remuneration. Where, however, such activity is part of a social integration scheme, designed to enable an incapacitated person to recover his ability to take up employment, then the person so occupied loses the definition of worker under that article.
