B2: Anaerobic respiration

  • Anaerobic respiration is respiration without oxygen 
  • Glucose not broken down completely = produce lactic acids instead of carbon dioxide

Muscle fatigue:

  • Anaerobic respiration not as effective as aerobic respiration as glucose not broken down completely = less energy released
  • End product is lactic acid, this leads to release of small amount of energy
