B2 - The Nitrogen Cycle

Nitrogen is recycled in many ways. Before I explain these, just glance over this diagram to help you visualise the info.

Nitrogen fixing bacteria turn atmospheric nitrogen into nitrogen compounds the plants can use.

Lightning also puts nitrates into the ground.

These nitrates are absorbed by the roots of plants.

When animals eat the plants…
