WHAT ARE GENES?

 Every living organism is made from cells. Most cells have a nucleus. Inside the nucleus are chromosomes.  Chromosomes are made from a chemical called DNA!   

Chromosomes contain thousands of  genes. Genes carry information that controls what an organism is like. Each gene determines one characteristic. The information in a gene is a set of instruction for making proteins, including; 

-structural proteins - to build up the body.

- enzymes - to spped up the chemical reaction.

WHY DO FAMILY MEMBERS LOOK ALIKE WITHOUT BEING IDENTICAL?
