ACTIVE TRANSPORT
- LOWER to HIGHER concentration gradient
- Allows plants to absorb minerals from a dilute solution against a concentration gradient - essential for growth
- Root hairs give plants a large surface area for absorbing water and minerals from the soil
- Need mineral ions for healthy growth
- Concentration of minerals = higher in root hair cells than in soil around them --> can't use diffusion
- Active transport needs energy from respiration to make it work
- Happens in humans, taking…
