Atmospheric circulation - Tri Cellular Model
- Hadley Cell - Equator to 30 degrees N/S
- Ferrel Cell - 30 degrees to 60 degrees N/S
- Polar Cell - 60 degrees N/S towards the N/S pole
Corolis Force
- The Corolis Force is the deflection of winds due to the rotation of the Earth
- Winds are caused by difference in air pressure, high air pressure to low air pressure
- Variations occur in wind depending on the temperature and altitude
- In the northern hemisphere, wind blows anticlockwise into a LPZ and clockwise outwards away from high air pressure due to the Corolis force
