• 1951- Labour won more votes than Conservative Party but First- Past- Post meant that the Conservative Party won the most seats in General Election- Winston Churchill 
• Regarded Churchill as a tired, old force- Conservatives would struggle with economics 
• Gained reputation for leading wartime Britian into Victory 
• Suffered Stroke in 1952…
