What is a species?

- Organisms that can breed together successfully

BASIC 6 MARK ANSWER TO A 6 MARK SYLE QU ABOUT SPECIATION:

  • A population is seperated
  • By a barrier e.g. mountains
  • Mutations occur
  • Favourable mutations/genes are selected --> natural selection
  • Leading to genetic variation
  • Over time there DNA is too different
  • So they can no longer interbreed successfully
