Christians believe that marriage is holy because the love between a husband and wife is a sign of the love of god. Christain marriage is meant to be:

• Sacrement (a visable outward sign of an inner reality, Gods grace)
• permanent (just as god's love has no end)
• Exclusive (where the husband and wife remain faithful to eachother just as god is faithful and keeps promises
• life giving (like the love of god who creates the world.
