Pythagoras Thereom

Pythagoras thereom

hypotenuse - the longest side of the triangle

adjacent - the side next to the angle

opposite - the side that is opposite the angle

these equations can be used:

c2 = b2+ a2

a2 = c2- b2

it depends what side you need to find

1 of 3

Pythagoras Thereom

Calculate the length of the hypotenuse BA. Give the answer to one decimal place.

72+102= 49+100 = 149

c2=149 (you need to find the square root) so c = 12.2cm

Pythagoras Thereom

To calculate the length of one of the shorter sides, substitute any lengths into theformula and then rearrange to make aor b2 the subject

c2= b2+ a2
