Microscopes

  • Let us see things we can't with the naked eye.
  • Light microscopes- use light and lensesto form an image of a specimen to magnify it.
  • let us see individual cells
  • Electron microscopes use electrons, they have a higher magnification and higher resolution. They let us see smaller things in more detail e.g. the internal structure of mitochondria, chloroplasts, ribosomes, plasmids.

1. Add a drop of water to the middle of a clean slide.

2. Cut up onion and seperate into layers. Use tweezers to peal off some epidermal tissue.

3. using the tweezers place the epidermal tissue onto the drop of water.

4. Add a drop of iodine soloution.

5. Place cover slip on top.

2.Look down eyepiece adjust coarse adjeusment knob until roughly in focus

3.Use fine adjustment knob until you get a clear image

4.Draw observation
