Metals

Metals are an impoetant resource but they are finite(will run out) resource. They also use energy in the extraction process which can contribute to global warming.Metals are found in the earths crust usually as compounds withoxygen or sulphur.Unrective metals found as elements are know as 'native'(are metals found on their own)e.g. Glod.the recivatiy metal will efect how its is exctarcted.

Extraction using carbon

Using our rectivity series  we can see ony metals less reactive than carbon can be extracted using carbon

If a rock has enough metal in it to make it worthwide extracting (ecnomically useable).

We call it a Metal ore
