Sexual reproduction.

During fertilisation the egg and sperm fuse together.

Egg and sperm each contain genes, chromosomes and a nucleus (in size order).

The genetic material is made from DNA.

All humans have 46 chomosomes, 23 from the mum and 23 from the dad.

Our sex is determined by our last pair of chromosomes.

** pairings mean the child will be female.

XY pairings mean the child will be male.

Egg cells always code for **.

50% of sperm cells are Y and the other 50% are X.

This means there is a 50% chance the foetus will be male or female.
