frations to decimals explanation

1/5 = 0.2     e.g. 3/5 = 0.6

1/4 = 0.25   e.g. 2/4 = 0.5

1/10 = 0.1   e.g. 8/10 = 0.8

if you squished the numerator and denominator, a fraciton would look like this ÷ .

This means that a fraction is a division sum. 4/5 = 4 ÷ 5.

So to change a fraction to a decimal all you need to do is divide the two numbers.
4 ÷ 5 = 0.8

3 ÷ 5 = 0.6,  2 ÷ 4 = 0.5, 8 ÷ 10 = 0.8.
