Factors that affect a rate of reaction

These will give you theinformation you need to know about what affects rates of reaction for chemistry higher tier, unit 2

?

The 4 factors

The facors that affect a rate of reaction are: temperature, concentration, surface area and a catalyst.

Temperature
By increasng the temperate you are increasing the kinetic enegery(speed and movement) of the reacting particles so they collide more frequently and use more energy which increases the rate of the reaction

Concentration
Imcreasing the concentration of reactants in a solution will increase the frequency of collisions.

Surface area
Increasing the surface area of one of the reactants will increase the number of collisions between particles.

Catalyst
A catalyst is something that speed up the reaction but does not get used up during the reaction
