Enterprise Capability

Enterprise Capability is the ability to handle uncertainty and respond positively to change; to create and implement new ideas and ways of doing things; and to make reasonable risk/reward assessments and act on these in one's personal and working life.

Financial Capability is the ability to manage one's own finances and become questioning and informed customers of financial services.

The World Wide Web

The World Wide Web (www) is a collection of pages (a page capable of being accessed over the internet) with links to other pages on the website and other websites. An example is 'wikipedia'.

URL stands for Unifrom Resource Leader. In popular language, a URL is also referred to as a web address.

Web Browser is a software application which enables users to move from one page to another on the same site or different sites. Examples; internet explorer

Internet is an international network of computers connected by communication lines. It facilitates the world wide web but not the same as it.

Web Search Engine is a tool designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are usually presented in a list and are commonly called hits.

Auction Site is a website where goods and services can be sold to the highest bidder. An example is ebay.

Computer Viruses are small software programs that are illegally introduced to a computer and are designed to spread from one computer to another and interfere with operation. There are three categories that include several well known viruses:

1) Time Bomb - triggered by particular dates

2) Logic bombs - triggered by a set of conditions

3) Boot sector viruses - found on hard disks and activated every time it is used to start the computer system.

Phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as: usernames, passwords, credit card details. by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

Promoting Personal Employability

Employability is the possession by an individual of the qualities and competences required to meet the needs of employers and customers and thereby, help realize his or her aspirations and potential at work' should also be known.

Concrete Skills are those skills that enable a person to perform a specific task and they include; qualifications, work experience

Transferable Skills are those skills that can be used to enhance employability in a variety of different contexts and includes: teamwork and collaboration, negotation, ICT skills and time management.

Personal Attributes include commitment, honesty, common sense.
