Enterprise capability

Enterprise capability-the ability to handle uncertainty and respond positively ro change; to create and implement new ideas and ways of doing things; and to make reasonable risk/reward assessments and act on these in one's personal and working life. it is also about innovation, creativity, risk management, having a 'can-do' approach and the drive to make ideas happen

Financial capability

Financial capability -the ability to manage one's own finances and become questioning and informed customers of financial services

The World Wide Web

The World Wide Web -a collection of pages to be accessed over the internet with links to other pages, often containing information, games, social sites and other things.

URL- Uniform Resources Locator

URL- Uniform Resources Locator-In popular language, reffered to as a web address

Internet

Internet -the internet is an international network of computers connected by communication lines. it facilitates the World Wide Web. However it is not the same as the World Wide Web.

Computer Viruses

Computer Viruses -Small software programs that are illegally introduced to a computer and are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with operation. there are 3 categories that include well known viruses:

Time bombs- Triggered by particular dates 

Logic bombs- Triggered by a certain set of conditions

Boot Sector Viruses- found on hard disks and activated every time it is used to start the computer system

Phishing

Phishing- criminially fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as:

user names

passwords

credit card details

by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication

Web Search Engine

Web Search Engine- a tool designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are usually presented in a list and are commonly called hits

Auction sites

An auction site- a web site where goods and services can be sold to the highest bidder. an example is ebay

Promoting personal employability

Employability- the possession by an individual of the qualities and competences required to meet the needs of employers and customers and thereby, help realize his or her aspirations and potential at workshould also be known

Concrete skills- the skills that enable a person to perform a specific task and they include; qualifications, gaining relevant work experience, learning job specific skills

Transferable skills- those skills that can be used to enhanceemployability in a varietyof different contexts and include; teamwork and collaboration; negotiation; the ability to communicate effectively; ICT skills;the ability to work independantly; time management

Personal attributes include: commitment, honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, reliability, personal presentation, common sense, positive self-esteem, a sense of humour, an ability to deal with pressure, self motivation, a balanced attitude to work/home life & a 'can-do' attitude.
