Naming salts

Metal + acid = Metal salt + hydrogen

NAMING SALTS:

Metal + hydrocloric acid = Metal chloride

Metal + sulfuric acid = Metal sulfate

Metal + nitric acid = Metal nitrate

Zinc + nitric acid = zinc nitate + acid

  • A more reactive metal will displace a less reactive metal from one of its compounds.
  • The more reactive metal would take the oxygen from a less reactive metal.

Order Of Reactivity

(http://www.docbrown.info/page12/gifs/ReactivitySeriesList.gif)         At the top of the table there are extremly reactive metals. In the middle there is a mix of quite reactive metals and barely reactive metals the lower you go. at the bootum there is no reaction.
