An Acid + A metal makes a salt + hydrogen
Acid + Metal -----> Salt + Hydrogen
The more reactive a metal the faster the rate of reaction.
The rate of reaction in a dilute acid is indicated by the rate of hydrogen bubbles
Hydrogen can be confirmed with the burning splint test giving a 'Squeaky pop'
Hydrochloric acid will always make chloride salts:
Magnesium chloride (MgCl2)
Zinc chloride (ZnCl2)
Aluminum chloride(AlCl3)
Sulfuric Acid will always make sulfate acids:
Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4)
Zinc sulfate(ZnSO4)
Aluminum sulfate(Al(SO4)3)
