-Migrants into the South East ussualy live in shanty towns on the edge of any city

-Multinational companies have been attracted to the south east, including Nestle and Sanyo. Unfortunatley profits go to the company and not the country or region

-The South East contains 40% of Brazil's economic wealth

-Brazil is one of the fastest industrializing LEDC's in the world

-Quality of life in the slum settlement is very poor

-Sao Paulo is heavily polluted from traffic and from industry
