Sodium carbonate, Sodium chloride & Sodium hydroxi

QUESTION - Sodium carbonate, Sodium chloride and Sodium hydroxide are all white solids. Desctribe a test that can be used to distinguish between them.

  • Add hydrochloric acid to all solids
  • Sodium carbonate - will fizz/bubble & have a temperature increase (most reactive)
  • Sodium hydroxide - will have a temperature increase
  • Sodium chloride - will have no reaction (least reactive)
