    • National Minimum Wage (as of December 2019)
      • Under 18 = £4.35
      • 18 to 20 = £6.15
      • 21 to 24 = £7.70
      • 25 and over = £8.21
  • You must tell HMRC about your new employee on or before their first pay day
  • Employees must pay tax and National Insurance
  • Employees must be provided with a payslip. A payslip outlines your pay and any deductions. Will also show hours worked. A payslip is a lgal document, must be received every time you are paid.

Work Time Regulations 1998/Work Time Directive

  • under 18 can't work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week
  • can't work more than 48 hours average (usually 17 weeks)
  • contract waver = give permission for our company to let us work more hours than originally allowed.
  • Exceptions:
    • Where 24-hour staffing is required
    • Armed forces, emergency services, police

    • sex
    • sexual orientation
  • only doesn't apply if someone is at risk (health and safety)
