Biodiversity

Biodiversity - Range of species in a given area (or number)

Describe the biodiversity of the planet Earth .

The bioversity is high in the equator and is low in the poles.

Explain the pattern.

  • Colder at the poles.
  • Hotter at the equator.
  • Enzyme have highest rate of reaction at around 37 oC      ( Optimum level ).
  • A range of species can survive.

Darwin's Theory

Evolution The development of one species to another over a very long period of time.

Natural Selection - The selective pressure selects for the weakest member of species." Survival Of The Fittest ".

Adaptation - When a species characteristics are suited to its enviroment e.g. Colour of an organism allows them to camoflauge.
