where

  • uis the nth term
  • a is the first term
  • d is the common difference

Sn = 1/2 n (2a + (n − 1) d)

where

  • n is the number of terms you are adding
  • a is the first term
  • d is the common difference

Geometric sum of n terms formula

S= a (1 - r ) / 1 - r

where

  • r is the common ratio
  • n is the number of terms added

Sum to infinity = a / 1 - r

where

  • a is the first term
  • r is the common ratio if it is less than 1
