Evidence for short and long term memory
When people are asked to remember a list of objects, they tend to remember the
objects at the start of the list (primacy effect) as these are now in long term
memory and the items at the end of the list (Recency effect) as these are in short
term memory.
Capacity of short term memory
Geogre Miller measured the cpacity of short term memory and found that most
people could remember 7+/- chunks. This means people gererally remember
between 5 and 9 different bits of information.
