family dysfunction may infuence schizophrenia. The schizophrenogenic mother is cold, controllign and rejecting which can cause the child to loose trust and cause paranoid delusions. The double bind theory suggest that if the child gets mixed messages about wrong and right it can lead them to getting paranoid delusions and disorganised thoughts. Double bind theory is just a risk factor of getting schizophrenia. Also there is Expressed emotion which is where the patient gets negative emotions from the carer causing high chance of relapsing. (overinvolement, hostility and verbal criticism)

Cogntiive explanation says about the dysfunctional thought processes. Metarepresentation is where the you are aware of knowing you did an acton or whether someone else did, dysfunction to this is where they dont know whether they did the action or someone else. Central control is where you can supress automatic responses whislt doing a task, dysfucntion means they cant.

DYSFUCNTIONAL FAMILY - Berry foudn that insecure attachments were more likely to develop schizophrenia	Disadvantages SCHIZOPHRENOGENIC MOTHER - Its socially sensitive theory for parent sof schizophrenogenic patients. can lead to loss of diagnosis because aprents dont take child to doctor if show symptoms. COGNITIVE - cant tell if dysfunctional processing is a cause of schizophrenia or an effect of it.
	Evaluation Evidence to support psychological explanations but it lacks clear ground evidence on the cause and effect of the findings.
