- Miss Maudie's character doesn't change much
- She does however help Scout's character develop by giving her advice and helping her make sense of whet she has been told by other people

- "Jem and I had considerable faith in Miss Maudie"- showing how important she is to Jem and Scout
- "That is three-fourths coloured folks and one-fourth Stephanie Crawford"- showing how although her kindness extends to Jem and Scout, she is still a racist and has what Attius would call "Maycomb's usual disease"
- "Miss Maudie's voice was enough to shut anyone up"- shows how Miss Maudie is stern and that she may appear scary to some people
- "She loved everything that grew in God's Earth, even the weeds"- shows how Miss Maudie likes being outdoors and also shows her as a religious person by using "God"
- "Miss Maudie hated her house: time spent indoors was time wasted"- further demonstrating her love of the outdoors, adn also showing how she may feel there is nothing interesting that can be done indoors
