Advantages

  • (FW) Emphasises the individual, thus taking individual differences into account
  • (D) Scientific so allows cause and effect to be established
  • (D) Behaviour can be supported by evidence

Disadvantages

  • (FW) Free will is subjective, cannot be scientifically tested
  • (D) Reductionist - doesn't take any other variables into account
  • (D) Establishes general laws of behaviour - cannot take individual differences into account
