Evaluate the usefulness of questionnaires as a market research method.

Advantages

  • practical
  • large amounts of info. can be collected from large no. of people in short period of time in a relatively cost effective way
  • results can be quickly + easily quantified
  • can be analysed more 'scientifically' + objectively than other forms of research
  • can be carried out by researcher or by any no. of people with limited affect to its validity + reliability

Disadvantages

  • inadequate to understand some forms of info. - emotions, behaviours, feelings
  • limited amount of info. without explanation
  • no way to tell how truthful respondent is being
  • no way of telling how much thought respondent has put in
  • respondent may be forgetful or not thinking within full context of the situation

Evaluation

Questionnaire is a set of printed of written questions with a choice of answers devised for the purposes of a survey or statistical study.
