CISC Processors

Advantages

Most instructions a programmer needs are ready to use, meaning less machine code must be generated by the compiler

Disadvantages

More transistors, therefore a cooling system is required, making the processor physically larger
Complex instructions can take several clock cycles to complete, giving a longer processing time

Evaluation

RISC processors are used in mobile devices where the hardware needs to be kept as small as possible, but are not as efficient as CISC processors
